OH MY GOSH, now I know this is dangerous and I should be careful, but I have had some of the most beautiful interactions with strangers within the last week and I know, my mom has told me a hundred times, "don't talk to strangers," but let me just tell you about some of the beautiful things that have come from it. I told myself I wanted to be more intentional with people and simply love on them. So here's to doing so.
My first interaction was while I was camping in the Porcupine Mountains. It was on a Sunday afternoon and I had recently finished my short run throughout the campsites. I was walking along the shore of Lake Superior and saw this lady painting the landscape. I sat down by her and got to know a little about her and what she was passionate about, what inspires her. I asked if she was an artist, and she said she would love to be, but for now, she was just learning by watching Youtube videos. But trust me when I say this, it was beautiful, and she had an incredible gift. When she concluded her painting, she handed me her book full of her work. I was amazed. Amazed by her heart, how she loved the things she was talking to me about, and just how she felt that we need to do things that scare us. I was encouraged to say the least.
The second interaction I would love to share was last night, actually. My sweet friend Lupita and I thought it would be super fun for us to have a little picnic by the river, eat some panera, and have a little bible study. We spotted this couple that was super dressed up, and our guess was a bride and groom. Like yes, that is how nice they looked. Unsure of why they were so dressed up, however, Lupita and I run up to them, and ask them to do a random photo shoot with them. These pictures were beautiful and we came to find out that they were actually celebrating prom, because due to COVID, it was sadly cancelled. Inserting pics below!!!
To conclude this post, I just love these encounters I have had recently, and I am so encouraged by just being intentional with random people and seeing how well they reciprocate that love. Yes, both of these incidents were scary to approach, but leaving those conversations and experiences lit a fire in me even more. I love people and I love loving people.
