Hello, and welcome!! (: I think this whole blog thing might become a weekly thing for me because it is honestly quite fun to share with one another how life is going, and in all honesty, I think it is quite important!
As for the title of this post, a really encouraging pastor I met a few weeks ago had said that we should say physically distancing rather than social distancing because if we social distance, we are in complete isolation, and we need community through this season of our lives. So, text a friend, write a letter, facetime, and call the people you love because we are not meant to do this life alone.
Now! To dive into today’s blog post, I wanted to talk about some things to make the most of your time in quarantine. Personally, I started school this week, so I will for sure have a great deal of my time consumed by academics. However, the last three weeks, I have not had homework to tend to, soooooo what have I been doing in the mean time? Other than mentally preparing for online schooling, I have been working out, doing my laundry, spring cleaning, painting, watching youtube videos, going for walks, hammocking, and I bought a penny board!!!!
I rearranged my bedroom because I have 2 months left on my current lease so I might as well make it cute and comfy for the remaining two months. I added some pretty cool lights and painted a cute sign with a bible verse that resonates with our current situation. It reads, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power & of love & of a sound mind.” That verse is found in 2 Timothy 1:7.
In creating a closeness with my relationship with the Lord, I have been practicing scripture with an app called “verses” that was recommended by a sweet encourager and friend named Erin. I have been diving into scripture daily and started a plan with my friend Emily. She has been a pretty awesome encourager in this season and I am so thankful for her because of it.
I also don’t think my room has ever been so clean. My mom would be so proud. If I have to remain in my home for who knows how long, I might as well make it as comfortable as possible.
Although this season of life has its complications, I also think there is so much to rejoice about. Our church community, I am recognizing, is incredibly encouraging and no matter how discouraged we are feeling, I know there are so many people that care. Our small group still meets over zoom, churches all around the world are more Live on social media platforms than ever, and college students in my area are worshipping on multiple platforms. God is good and He is creating this time to know Him more and that is worth rejoicing.
Happy Thursday (:
