12:20 a.m.
I think there is something beautiful going on in this world. Although quarantine has had its struggles and I find myself indulging in foods that are delicious for just a second, I find myself also taking care of my heart and my soul. I wake up in the morning and spend intentional time talking to Jesus. I find myself doing workouts with the people I am quarantined with, whether that be running or a dreaded HIIT workout on Zoom (it’s sort of like facetime with a ton of people!) Currently it is 11 p.m. and 2 of the people I am staying with are just stretching in the living room. It’s completely normal. We all have a different way of being, of living, of loving, and of thinking. Although they are different, we are learning so much about one another and I find that so beautiful.
As I mentioned, it is 11 p.m. and we just finished the most amazing movie that really had me thinking a lot. It is called “About Time.” Believe it or not, it is actually about time. If you don’t like spoilers, I suggest you skip this paragraph. This guy lives all of these moments in time, and if he makes a little mistake, he finds a dark room, clenches his fists, and can go back to a place in time where he can relive that moment (only his dad knows he is capable of going back in time.) Towards the end of the movie, his father is diagnosed with cancer and he finds each moment to be more and more meaningful. He goes back in time on multiple occasions just to spend some extra time with his father. My point in all of this is this; we don’t get all of those “do overs” in life like this character did, and after his father passed, he chose not to go back either. Instead, he chose to just be present, live every day like it was his last, and love just because.
Not only do I want to point out the importance of relationships, but also how fragile our lives are and how easy it is to take certain things for granted. Being in quarantine, we each set personal goals for ourselves.
My personal goals:
Grow in my relationship with Jesus
Exercise and Stretch
Learn to play the ukulele
Read
Talk to someone you don’t necessarily talk to everyday and simply love on them
Wake up earlier
Although some of these are not accomplished daily, the way I perceive the world brings so much joy. It is currently day #8 of quarantine for myself and 5 other girls in one house, but I wouldn’t change this experience for the world. Yes, we all kind of do our own thing at times, but we also do a lot together. We talk to Jesus together, we worship, we eat, we workout, we watch TV shows and movies, and we love on each other. We challenge each other. I am inspired by each one of them.
I am inspired by Sarah because she is so on fire for Jesus. She is incredibly real when I ask for advice and pushes me to be my best self. Side note: she is probably one of the funniest people I have ever met. Besides the little side note, she is so intentional. Her everyday life (outside of quarantine of course) is go go go. But no matter how busy she is, she still finds time for Jesus and for the people in her life. I love her for that and I look up to her because of it.
I am inspired by Sierra because she is also one of the funniest people I have ever met. Side note: When Sarah and Sierra are together, I don’t think there is a person that they could not make laugh. Last night, the two of them were literally talking to seven deer that were in the backyard and they went onto the deck to feed strawberries to them.
I am inspired by Alyssa because she always seems to be laughing. She makes the most of the time spent in this quarantine house and I really look up to her for that. Oh, and we have this cute little group chat with people that went on a mission’s trip for spring break and today, she was just sending some biblical truth that was so necessary to hear.
I am inspired by Lydia and her love for running. She is running a marathon in the fall and if that doesn’t tell you how motivated she is, I don’t know what does! Also, she was on facetime with one of her siblings for like 4 hours this morning. It was so impressive! That really had me thinking a lot about how intentional she was. I really appreciate that about her.
I am inspired by Erin. Although I knew Erin before these two weeks, If I have learned anything it is this… She loves so well. She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met and cares about the people in her life, so deeply. Her love for Just Dance, her espresso machine and rock climbing are unbelievable! I also am inspired by the way she loves Jesus. I have really been learning a lot about the importance of relationship with Jesus and how crucial that is in approaching relationship with the people that you love. I also love how she always encourages others to approach every situation with a loving heart. She looks at life so beautifully and I am inspired by her. For example, she went outside for the first time since Wednesday today and she was literally a kid in a candy store.
If you were to take away anything from this post I hope it is this… Be intentional. Tell people how you feel and what they mean to you. Rejoice always! Be grateful. Write things down. Be bold. Do things that scare you. Seek Jesus. Smile. Laugh. Be where your feet are. & most importantly, love and love well.
